Overview
Not every scratch needs paint
Scratch repair in Dubai usually starts in a basement car park, where a tight pillar or a careless trolley leaves a line down the door. The good news is that many of those lines sit only in the clear coat, and clear coat can be levelled without repainting.
A car's finish is layered: clear coat on top, colour below it, then primer and metal or plastic. How we fix a scratch depends on which layer it reached, so the first thing the technician does is a depth check under proper light.
Light clear coat scratches and swirls are machine-polished until the edges disappear. Deeper ones may be wet-sanded flat and then polished. Scratches that expose primer are filled with colour matched to the paint code, levelled and blended so they stop catching the eye.
Heat matters here. Polishing a panel that has been baking in the afternoon sun can burn through soft clear coat, so we work on cooled panels, in shade or under cover, and take readings as we go rather than chasing a mirror finish at any cost.
Where a scratch has gone through to bare metal over a crease or a large area, a touch-up will not hold up well. We will tell you that on the spot and arrange a paint or body shop booking instead.
